Barclays statement in Excel. The balance column walked end to end, breaks named in pence.
People search for this because the statement is going into a spreadsheet one way or another. The question worth answering is whether the spreadsheet adds up to the paper. Here the register is rebuilt, the running balance is re-added line by line, and every place it fails is listed with the row and the exact difference.

Or click to pick the file. It opens in the same page you would have used anyway — the balance chain starts re-adding on the next screen.
Three files free, 60 pages in total, no card needed. Paid plans are priced by the page — one page of the original is one page, up to 500 pages in a single file.
Day-first dates, and a summary that is not a row
Barclays statements are day-first, and they carry a summary of the period that a careless read turns into transactions. Getting the order of the dates and the status of the summary block right is most of the work; the arithmetic is the part that then proves it was done correctly.
What gets checked before you download
Every line below is arithmetic on the paper you sent — not a supplier's claim about how good its reading is. Where the arithmetic fails, you get the row and the exact difference, and the statement is not called balanced.
Day-first, stated and flagged
The reading order is asserted from the statement and displayed. A cell that could genuinely be either is flagged rather than resolved.
Summary block versus register
Period totals are treated as claims about the rows, checked against them, and kept out of the row data.
Running balance forward and back
The chain is walked in both directions, so a single bad row is localised rather than shifting every subsequent balance.
Money In / Money Out folded with the rule shown
Where the statement uses two positive columns, the sign is reconstructed and the rule displayed.
Where a Barclays statement goes wrong quietly
None of these announce themselves. Each one produces a file that looks correct.
Contactless and card entries that look duplicated
A pending and a settled entry can both print. Two rows that look the same are flagged, not collapsed — you decide which is the real movement.
Charges described in more than one line
A fee with a wrapped explanation is one row. Only a continuation with no date and no amount is joined.
Statements with a running balance that resets
A page that restarts the balance is a page break, not a restatement. It is recognised and does not create a false break in the chain.
What we will not claim
There is no Barclays template in this product, and claiming one would be a lie we would have to maintain. A layout that does not read is reported as such, with the page named.
The same goes for the arithmetic: a clean run means the checks we ran found nothing to flag. It does not mean the document is correct — it means nothing in it failed the checks listed above.
How it runs
Upload the statement
A native PDF, a scan, or a phone photo of the Barclays statement. No bank connection, no credentials, nothing to authorise.
The ledger is rebuilt and walked
Rows are put back in the order the statement prints them, page furniture is removed, and the balance chain is re-added line by line.
Check the flags, then export
Anything that did not add up is listed first, with its page and exact difference. Then take the Excel file, the other export shapes, and the review sheet.
What lands on your disk
- The .XLSX register — one row per transaction, no merged cells, amounts as numbers
- A Review sheet: who confirmed or corrected which cell, and what it said before
- Plain CSV, Xero-shaped CSV, and QuickBooks .QBO with unique transaction IDs
- A check report stating the rows printed, the rows exported, and every difference found
- Every cell still clickable back to the page and region it was read from
- Files are read, then destroyed — a second upload is a second read
Questions
Will it keep the pence exactly as printed?+
Yes. The printed string is preserved character for character, and the numeric reading is a separate labelled field. Nothing is rounded on the way out.
Can I work from the original at the same time?+
The original pages sit next to the table. Selecting a cell scrolls the source to that region and frames it, so you check against the paper rather than against your memory of it.
What if a month is missing from the folder?+
Upload what you have. The closing balance of one statement is compared with the opening of the next, and a missing month shows up as a gap between them.
What does it cost?+
Three files are free, 60 pages in total, with no card and no account needed to try. Paid plans are sold by the page — $19 a month buys 1,000 pages — and a page is one page of the original document.
